Introduction
International Institute of Information Technology (I2IT, pronounced as I Square IT), is approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), recognised by Directorate of Technical Education (DTE) Government of Maharashtra (Institute code – 6754) and affiliated to University of Pune.
About Us
The Institute offers degree courses (BE) in Electronics and Telecommunication, Computer and Information Technology. The institute also offers Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) in Business Management and Information Technology Management.
International Institute of Information Technology (I2IT, pronounced as I Square IT), formerly known as Hope Foundation and Research Centre is registered under the Bombay Public Trusts Act, 1950 and the Societies Registration Act, 1860 as a Public Charitable Trust and a Society respectively. It was established by Mr. P. P. Chhabria, Chairman of Finolex Group of Industries in 1979.
The erstwhile Hope Foundation and Research Centre commenced its charitable activities in the field of medicine through the provision of free medical aid for cancer patients in the form of medical assistance and life saving drugs. The Foundation also supplied chemotherapy drugs to overcome the scourge of cancer and related diseases. Recognizing the need to intensify the fight against cancer, The Foundation was a pioneer in the establishment of a well-equipped Mammography Centre in Pune in August 1993.
The vision and concept of I2IT was first unfolded in the year 2000 in the presence of PadmaBhushan Dr. R. A. Mashelkar, the then Director General of CSIR. The Institute is the creation of Shri P. P. Chhabria, well-known industrialist and philanthropist of India and past President of Mahratta Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture (MCCIA) and Padmashri Dr. Vijay Bhatkar, a distinguished scientist and an acclaimed IT leader of India who is credited with the creation of India’s PARAM series of supercomputers, and who is also a recipient of Maharashtra’s highest recognition ‘Maharashtra Bhushan’. The vision and leadership of these two distinguished people have shaped this Institute since its inception.
The Institute was dedicated to the service of the nation at the hands of BharatRatna Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam, the then President of India on 28th May 2003. Dr. Kalam in his national dedication speech said that I2IT represents the next generation IT education Institute of India that can help to propel India as IT superpower.
With 10.22 acre campus, 43000+ sqm built-up area of academic buildings, library, hostels and other amenities architected by the leading architects of India, with state-of-the-art labs, and wired and wireless infrastructure, I2IT has perhaps one of the best educational infrastructures of India. The total capital investment on the Institute exceeds Rs. 57.43 crores and additionally the Institute has invested Rs. 3.04 crores on land and development. The Institute has created world class on-campus residential facilities on the model of IITs.
The Institute is recognized Research Centre of University of Pune for undertaking Ph. D. degree research in the fields of Electronics and Telecom, Computer Engineering, and Information Technology under Faculty of Engineering and Technology.
One of the prime objectives of I2IT is to create industry ready, productive professionals in the field of Engineering, Technology and Management in the global context. In this pursuit, the Institute has fostered several academic and industrial alliances. The Institute is also in the process of creating an Incubation Centre that will be a platform for incubating start-ups on campus by students and faculty members.
